Kia ora, I’m Dan — the person behind Wild South Fishing. I film and share land-based fishing missions from the wild coastline of New Zealand’s South Island. Most of my fishing is surfcasting in the Canterbury region, but I occasionally get away for fishing trips in other parts of the country.

Wild South Fishing began in 2024 as an Instagram page I created to document my fishing trips. One day I took my GoPro along and captured some action, which turned into my first Instagram Reel. The launch of my YouTube channel followed soon after. I now also share my content on Facebook and TikTok.

I’ve always found it incredibly rewarding to catch and cook fish fresh from the ocean. I aim to bring that experience to life in my videos, and it’s always great to hear from people who say my content inspired them to get out there and give it a go themselves.
